USA Science & Engineering Festival-The SuperBowl of STEM-Does it Work To inspire The Next Generation

Dr. Orrision just left our school and I just had to write to tell you how wonderful this day has been! He started by reading “Math Curse” to our 1st graders and talking about math as a challenge; he had lunch and talked with our X-STEM Ambassadors (plus a few math wizards) answering questions about colleges and mathematics, he spoke to 5th & 6th graders about fractals, our 7th & 8th graders about mathematical thinking, and then talked briefly with our teachers. Oh, we also managed a quick video-taping of Dr. Orrison for our Friday TV report. He said since he had the day and was coming such a long distance, he wanted to make the time count. It really did for our students and our school. Michael Orrison is an awesome speaker, engaged students at varying levels and we are so thankful that you both made this happen. Many, many thanks!
The USA Science & Engineering Festival 2016 refelected the divertity of America, the curiosity of America, the participation, fascination, and the excitement about science, technology, engineering, and math, and it certainly bought out the best of creativity in all who participated. The Festival bought about a family experience to be caputured under one big roof. "For me, it was a reminder of how important the family unit is". says OGTV Founder, Keith Moore. "So OGTV has teamed with the USA Science & Engineering Festival, The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington DC, Future Kings, and with support from Staples, we have launced a quest to find out "What Works in STEM Diversity, Science Diversity and STEM Education". We want to know if the Festival makes such an impact that in 5 10 years from now America will take a lead position in the globe as STEM competititve, capable and equipped. One thing for certain, if we track and measure each data point collected at the Festival, then we will have generated some invaluable data that we can use to impact on curriculum, approaches to teaching STEM, and the rest of the results we will for now, leave to Father time.
